Obituary of Melba Mines

Melba Doris Russell-Kiefer-Butcher-Mines, 91, of Coulterville, IL passed away at 11:30 pm. on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at the Coulterville Care Center. She was born on October 4, 1926, the daughter of the late George and Jesse (Dirden) Russell. Melba was married to Edward Kiefer in 1946, then George Butcher in 1958, and later she married Leonard Mines in 1977. Leonard preceded her in death on February 23, 1984. She worked in home healthcare and was a cook at Jackson County Nursing Home, the Randolph County Care Center. Melba was a member of the Loyalty Missionary Baptist Church, Sparta VFW Women’s Auxiliary 2698, the Legion in Sparta, and the moose Lodge in Murphysboro.

Melba is survived by four daughters, Elizabeth Ann (Glenn) Kiefer-Cornett of Marissa; Alice (Burton) Butcher-Bridges of Sparta, Barbara (David) Seyferth of Sparta, and Georgia Lee (Gary) Hefler of Makanda; three sons, Leonard (Sharon) Kiefer of Baldwin, Michael Kiefer of Marissa, and John Keene of Cutler; one step-son Gerald (Charlene) Butcher of Pinckneyville; numerous grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends

Melba is preceded in death by her parents, three husbands, one son Jack Keene, one grandson Steve Kiefer, and one step-daughter Glenna Moutria

Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 15, 2018 at McDaniel & Lee Family Funeral Home in Sparta, IL

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at McDaniel & Lee Family Funeral Home in Sparta, IL, and on Friday from 9 a.m. until the hour of service at the Funeral Home

Interment will be at Caledonia Cemetery

Memorials may be given to the Loyalty Missionary Baptist Church
