Obituary of Milton Burns

Milton Roger Burns, 84, of Sparta, IL, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at the Sparta Community Hospital. He was born on December 30, 1932 in Sparta, IL, the son of the late John “Brother” Milton and Hannah (Smart) Burns. Roger and Lee Draves were united in marriage on August 25, 1956. Roger proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked as a realtor, a security guard at Spartan Light Metals, and owned and operated Southern Illinois Industries. Roger was a member of the Masons, Ainad, Shriners and Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Sparta

Roger is survived by his wife, Lee Burns of Sparta, IL; one daughter, Jennifer Burns of Jacksonville Beach, FL; one son, David Burns of Sparta, IL; one brother, John Howard Burns of Sparta, IL; one uncle, Sam Smart of Sparta, IL; one granddaughter, Samantha Lee; two brothers-in-law, Earl (Rosemary) Draves of Red Bud, IL, and Leonard (Carole) Draves of Festus, MO; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends

Roger is preceded in death by his parents, one sister Patricia Smith and one brother George Burns

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at McDaniel & Lee Family Funeral Home in Sparta, IL, with a meal to follow at Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Sparta, IL

Friends may call on Sunday from 1 p.m. until the hour of service at the Funeral Home
